Catbird is an independent hotel in RiNo that blurs the line between hotel and home. The hotel creates adaptable spaces that foster a deeper sense of belonging for our guests and community. More than a mash-up of periods and styles, this hotel creates all the feelings that travel should provide. Catbird has 165-room rooms with hybrid furniture providing massive functionality in a small amount of space. The lobby features comfortable spaces, grab-and-go food options, and flexibility between work-flow and life-balance that experiential travelers seek out. Guest rooms feature full kitchens with functional housewares, unique storage, and multi-functional furniture where small spaces realize their larger potential.

 

Paying homage to the history of the neighborhood around it, Catbird encompasses a 3,600 square foot, four-bedroom historic home, originally built in 1890, which has been preserved as part of the hotel. Amenities include a “playroom” stocked with bikes, skateboards, scooters, cameras and other items, package delivery lockers, a guest storage area where repeat guests can leave often-used items, and a dog run for man’s best friend.

 

The rooftop at Catbird features a stunning indoor/outdoor bar and an inviting outdoor deck with lounge seating and firepits, perfect for enjoying unobstructed views of the Denver skyline with friends and colleagues. The rooftop is also home to an additional 3,300 square foot deck that will be dedicated to hosting corporate and social events. In addition to our event deck Catbird's spaces include two addition meeting rooms, the Media room (525 square feet) and the Dining room (140 square feet). Job Overview

Assist Sales Managers, Banquet Manager, Front Desk, Directors and General Manager in obtaining customer satisfaction increasing revenue by performing clerical and administrative duties relating to group room blocks, events, business travel accounts and special corporate / wholesale support through guest and hotel communications. Responds to telephone, emails and in-person inquiries regarding group/catering potential business, hotel information and guest concerns. 

Responsibilities

  • Answer sales office phones and qualify sales leads efficiently with strong communication skills
  • Type correspondence, reports and necessary forms i.e. contracts, as well as prepare proposals or other letters as directed.
  • Coordination of all group and wedding business as contracted by the sales manager/DoSM.
  • Contact and provide appropriate follow-up on all signed/contracted business upon signing and determine and coordinate all needs of the customer.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating with the various departments to ensure that the meeting and related functions are executed to exceed the client’s expectations.
  • Account Service and Management: Maintains well documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management in order to serve client and employer in the most expedient, organized and knowledgeable manner.
  • Develops strong customer relationships through appropriate client communication and the use of professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interaction.
  • Work with sales personnel to achieve required sales team goals.
  • Have current knowledge of hotel rates, strategies, discounts, and promotions.
  • Assist with completing any required sales reports.
  • Develop and effective communication and information system with the hotel team to disseminate details of upcoming group, meeting events and special events in the primary marketing area.
  • Assist hotel with implementing hotel specific selling strategies.
  • Promptly, the same day or by 10am the next business day, follows up on all customers’ needs and inquires in an efficient and expedient manner.
  • Represents themselves and the hotel with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, a service focused approach and a caring, sincere attitude at all times.
  • Exhibits a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and maintains open communication with all co-workers for the best overall performance of the hotel.
  • Display a neat, clean and business-like appearance at all times.
  • Assists the Sales department with monthly luncheons, client events, etc.
  • Support Sales Managers with data and lead entry into Sales systems (Delphi)
  • Conduct walk-in tours
  • Keep supplies stocked and on hand
  • Work with Sales Managers on all group turnover and proper execution of the groups.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

High school diploma or vocational secretarial.

 

Experience

Previous sales, hospitality, and secretarial experience preferred.

Previous use of CRM/POS Systems is a plus: Toast, Delphi/Salesforce, StayNTouch, Cvent, Canva 

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Advanced knowledge/use of Microsoft Word applications: Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Alphabetizing, grammar and punctuation skills.
  • Standard business letter formats.
  • Strong editing skills.

  • Excellent communication skills necessary to communicate clearly with customers and other departments by phone or in person.

  • Bending/kneeling - repeated bending and kneeling required while filing
  • Mobility - must be able to reach all areas of hotel to assist clients. Occasional standing. Occasional carrying and lifting of files and office items up to 50 lbs.
