Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Food & Beverage Manager to oversee Brass Poppy, Café 605, and additional dining outlets within Hotel Van Zandt. This role is responsible for driving exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and financial performance while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong hospitality instincts, proven business acumen, and the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead & Develop Teams:Recruit, train, coach, and motivate associates across outlets to foster engagement, retention, and career growth.
  • Operational Excellence:Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of all outlets, maintaining compliance with SOPs, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Financial Management:Oversee budgets, manage costs, and maximize profitability while ensuring resources and staffing align with business needs.
  • Guest Experience:Respond to feedback and trends, ensuring service excellence that drives guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Innovation & Promotions:Design and execute promotions, activations, and partnerships to attract both hotel guests and locals.
  • Asset & Safety Oversight:Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment quality to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

More than two years of post-secondary education; hospitality degree preferred.

 

Experience

Two to three full years of progressive leadership in food & beverage or hospitality operations; multi-outlet management a plus. TABC and Manager Food Safety certification required.

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Requires thorough knowledge of the restaurant/hotel practices and procedures in order to perform non-repetitive analytical work. May require knowledge of policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.
  • Supervision/management communication skills are required.
  • Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to make occasional decisions which are generally guided by established policy and procedures.
  • Excellent comprehension for assisting with guest and associate matters. Interpreting instructions from superiors.
  • Excellent vision required for seating guests, expediting food, cleaning equipment, reading floor plans, charts, schedules.
  • Must have excellent oral communication for communicating with guests and associates, issuing instructions and communicating policies.
  • Excellent comprehension required to read and implement policies and procedures; writing schedules and reading forecast and SOPs.
  • Must have knowledge of chemicals/agents for training purposes.
  • Business and financial acumen, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Problem-solving skills with sound decision-making.
  • Ability to deliver high service standards in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry tables, chairs, trays, plates, and chaffing dishes on a daily basis, up to 40 lbs.
  • Mobility -95% of shift covering all areas of outlets supervising.
  • Frequent walking and standing during shifts.
  • Occasional bending, climbing stairs, and light equipment handling.
  • Guest-facing presence with active on-floor leadership.
  • No driving required.

Environment

Inside 95% of work day. Temperatures can exceed 100 degrees if working at location with outside dining facilities and when assisting in kitchen
