Job Overview

Assist Restaurant Manager in all phases of restaurant operations. Responsible for complete restaurant operation in absence of manager.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise servers, runners, and other restaurant associates to ensure compliance with all service standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Conduct inspections for proper uniforms, and overall professional appearance.
  • Support Restaurant Leadership in coaching team members to deliver exceptional guest service, remaining attentive to guests’ needs and cues.
  • Assist managers in assigning, monitoring, and verifying completion of side-work duties.
  • Assist servers and runners by running food and ensuring timely delivery to guests
  • Bus and reset tables efficiently to maintain a clean and organized dining area
  • Greet and seat guests in accordance with seating chart and guest preferences
  • Review daily communication logs from the previous shift and prepare updated reports for the next shift.
  • Manage scheduling updates by checking for staff call-offs and confirming adequate floor coverage.
  • Inspect all restaurant areas for cleanliness and proper setup, including dining spaces, service stations, and aisles. Ensure all tables meet cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Communicate daily with the restaurant manager regarding special events, guest counts, and other operational details.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

High school education or equivalent.

 

Experience

Experience required by position is from one to two full years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and/or complex problems and food and beverage management.
  • Must have excellent oral communication for communicating with guests and associates, issuing instructions and communicating policies.
  • Excellent comprehension for assisting with guest and associate matters. Interpreting instructions from superiors.
  • Excellent vision required for seating guests, expediting food, cleaning equipment, reading floor plans, charts, and schedules.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry tables, chairs, trays, plates, and chaffing dishes on a daily basis, 20 -40 lbs.
  • Bending -Bend to pick up dropped items as needed. Bend to assist in serving food or getting supplies.
  • No kneeling required.
  • Mobility -95% of shift covering all areas of outlets supervising.
  • Continuous standing to assist at hostess station -minimal stationary standing. Climbing stairs -varies by location.
  • No driving required.

Environment

Inside 95% of work day. Temperatures can exceed 100 degrees if working at location with outside dining facilities and when assisting in kitchen
