Job Overview

As a Room Attendant at The Ben, you play a vital role in creating a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for every guest. You will be responsible for cleaning and preparing guest rooms and assigned public areas to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and quality. Through your attention to detail, efficiency, and commitment to excellence, you help ensure every guest enjoys an exceptional stay while supporting the hotel's reputation for outstanding hospitality.

 

Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a genuine commitment to delivering a memorable guest experience. By consistently maintaining Marriott and The Ben's standards of cleanliness and professionalism, you contribute directly to guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and the overall success of the hotel.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve housekeeping supplies and stock cleaning carts, maintaining carts and storage areas in a clean, organized, and well-stocked condition.
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and assigned public areas according to hotel cleanliness and brand standards.
  • Clean windows, doors, walls, closets, mirrors, fixtures, and other surfaces to ensure a spotless and welcoming environment.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect bathrooms, including showers, tubs, toilets, sinks, mirrors, and surrounding surfaces.
  • Replace towels, linens, toiletries, and guest room amenities, ensuring all items are fully replenished for arriving guests.
  • Restock guest information materials and replace any damaged or missing literature.
  • Sweep, mop, and hand-clean hard floor surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
  • Dust and polish furniture, décor, fixtures, vents, and other high and low surfaces, removing dust and cobwebs.
  • Strip and remake beds with fresh linens, inspecting bedspreads, blankets, pillows, and mattress pads for cleanliness and quality.
  • Inspect under and between mattresses and under beds to ensure rooms meet cleanliness standards.
  • Organize and restock closets with hangers, extra blankets, pillows, and other required guest amenities.
  • Vacuum carpets, rugs, hallways, and public areas, including moving lightweight furniture as needed to clean all accessible areas.
  • Inspect guest room doors, windows, and locks, promptly reporting any safety or security concerns.
  • Check guest room equipment, including televisions, lighting, faucets, climate controls, and other amenities, reporting maintenance needs to the Executive Housekeeper or Engineering team.
  • Safeguard hotel equipment, master keys, supplies, and other hotel property in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate room status updates and communicate maintenance or housekeeping issues promptly.
  • Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to guests and fellow team members at all times.
  • Follow all hotel safety, security, sanitation, and brand standards.
  • Assist with additional housekeeping or departmental duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

None Required

 

Experience

Minimum 1 year housekeeping experience required

Housekeeping experience in an upscale or luxury hospitality environment preferred

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Multilingual in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole a plus

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. continually throughout a shift.
  • Must be able to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout a shift.
  • Must be able to work with arms raised above head throughout a shift.
  • Must be able to maneuver fully loaded maid cart, weighing up to 50lbs., through hallways and into/out of closets during entire work day.
  • Ability to identify minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas, and to read written instructions and computer print-outs.

Environment

  •  Prolonged strenuous physical activity in indoor climate-controlled environment.
  • Excessive heat and humidity in laundry. Inside 95% of shift.
