The Ice Cream Specialist at Dune House Hotel & Spa brings genuine warmth and care to one of the hotel's most joyful guest touchpoints, preparing and serving frozen treats that turn a simple indulgence into a memorable coastal moment. In this role, the work centres on preparing and serving ice cream and beverages with consistency and genuine guest attentiveness, carried out with the professionalism and personal care that are the hallmarks of hospitality at this Atlantic Beach retreat. At Dune House, this role reflects the hotel's belief that every detail matters, every interaction is an opportunity, and every stay should feel like something worth remembering.

• They are an ambassador of happiness and hospitality.

Prepare, scoop, and serve ice cream, beverages, and related menu items in accordance with established standards and recipes.

• Greet guests in a friendly and timely manner, take orders accurately, and provide an engaging customer experience.

• Operate point of sale system to process transactions accurately and efficiently.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and service counters in compliance with health and safety standards.

• Restock supplies, ingredients, and merchandise as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

• Follow all company policies, standard operating procedures, and local health regulations.

• Monitor product quality and report any issues to management.

• Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.

• Respond to guest questions, concerns, and feedback to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.

• Develops enthusiastically satisfied customers all the time.

• Provides quality frozen treats consistently for all customers.

• Maintains quality shop operations.

• Contributes to shop profitability.

• Takes responsibility to learn all aspects of the Ice Cream Scooper position

All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Education/Formal Training

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous food service, retail, or customer service experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge/Skills

• Basic understanding of food handling and sanitation practices.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

• Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.

• Basic math skills for handling transactions.

• Team oriented with a positive attitude.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to hear timers and coordinate with other team members.

• Must be able to check product quality and read production charts/recipes.

• Ability to interact with guests in a positive, hospitable manner.

• Must be able to use the cash register/collect money with accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

• Position regularly involves lifting product cases (ice cream tubs, supply boxes) weighing up to 70 lbs.

• Pushing and pulling carts is required. Regular bending to lift items and supplies. No kneeling.

• Repetitive scooping motion; good hand and wrist mobility required.

• Mobility - regularly moves all around the ice cream shop. Continuous standing.

Environment

• Primarily indoor work with frequent exposure to cold temperatures. Physically active role involving continuous standing and frequent use of hands.
