Job Overview

Search for, respond to and handle any security problems, issues, concerns and disaster emergency situations in accordance with all policies, procedures and regulations to ensure the safety and security of the hotel's assets, guests, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol the hotel property and surrounding areas to maintain a visible security presence and identify potential safety or security concerns.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other security equipment, reporting irregularities and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Verify guest identification at designated access points in accordance with hotel policies and applicable laws.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, restricted areas, and age-restricted venues to ensure access is limited to authorized individuals.
  • Maintain a professional security presence during events, peak business periods, and other high-traffic operations.
  • Respond promptly to guest, associate, security, and emergency calls while remaining calm, professional, and service-focused.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, alarms, and other emergencies, requesting additional assistance when necessary.
  • Complete accurate, detailed, and timely incident, accident, and security reports.
  • Enforce hotel safety, security, access-control, and venue policies with professionalism, consistency, and discretion.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, maintenance concerns, and potential security hazards.
  • Support emergency response procedures, evacuations, and other life-safety operations as directed.
  • Assist with Lost and Found procedures, including receiving, documenting, securing, and releasing found property in accordance with established policies.
  • Support crowd management and access control during special events, functions, and high-volume periods.
  • Communicate security-related information effectively with hotel associates, management, emergency responders, and appropriate outside agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with hotel departments and event teams to support safe, orderly, and successful operations.
  • Provide professional and courteous guest service while maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
  • Protect guests, associates, visitors, and hotel assets through vigilance, sound judgment, and proactive risk awareness.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

High school education or equivalent experience.

 

Experience

Minimum two years prior experience in loss prevention.

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification; good communication skills, ability to recognize drug and alcohol abuse.
  • Ability to communicate through a portable radio. May require a second language.
  • Excellent hearing required to communicate with guests, employees, managers, use radio.
  • Excellent vision required for emergencies, visual safety inspections.
  • Excellent speech communication skills required to communicate with guests, employees, managers, use radio Excellent comprehension and literacy required to complete reports, logs.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying: May be necessary to carry people or equipment in emergency situation.
  • Bending/kneeling would be necessary in administering CPR and First Aid.
  • Mobility -would be necessary 100% of the time in responding to emergencies and patrolling the building.
  • Continuous standing -would not be standing in one place for any extended length of time. Uses stairs in responding to fire alarms -no elevators.
  • No driving required.

Environment

Work inside 85% of shift, 15% of shift. Abnormal temperatures -summer 110 degrees; winter -10 degrees.
